艶やかな黒の表面を覆うように、幾重にも刻まれた削りの線。その一面に広がる細かなストロークが、光を受けるたびに異なる表情を見せる10本用WATCH CASEです。深い黒の艶の中に無数の線が重なり、見る角度によって光が細やかに揺らぐ。均一に整えられた表面にはない、手仕事ならではの密度と奥行きが、このケースの印象を決定づけています。

外装を手掛けるのは、UNDULATIONのアーティスト、クワイ華。特殊塗料を幾重にも重ね、乾燥、削り、磨きを繰り返すことで、一つの表面の中に複雑な質感を生み出しています。今回は特に、広い面にわたって施された数多くの削りの線が特徴。一本一本の線が完全に均一ではないからこそ、光の入り方によって濃淡が生まれ、黒の艶に豊かな表情が加わります。

内装には、ハンドメイドデザイナー・葛野慎吾が仕立てるクロコダイルを採用。特徴的なグレインと立体的な質感を活かした内装が、緻密な線を刻んだ外装とは異なる質感を見せます。ケースを開けば、外装の力強い表情とクロコダイルの豊かなテクスチャーが交わり、10本のタイムピースを収める空間そのものにも特別な存在感が生まれます。

一本の線、一つの削り跡、その積み重ねがひとつの表情をつくる。規則性の中にわずかな揺らぎを残すことで、工業製品にはない個性が生まれています。10本の時計を収めるための機能を備えながら、その表面には一つのアートピースとして向き合いたくなる存在感がある。素材と手仕事、その痕跡までも美しさへと変える、UNDULATIONの10本用WATCH CASEです。

Countless lines sweep across the lustrous black surface of this ten-watch case, creating a richly textured expression that shifts with the light. Layer upon layer of fine strokes catches the light at different angles, allowing the deep black to reveal subtle variations in tone and sheen. Rather than a perfectly uniform surface, the density and rhythm of the hand-worked lines give the case a distinctive sense of depth and character.

The exterior is created by UNDULATION artist Kuwai Hana. Multiple layers of specialized paint are applied, then repeatedly dried, scraped, and polished to build a complex surface with depth and texture. What distinguishes this piece is the sheer number of scraped lines extending across the exterior. Each stroke carries subtle differences in depth and direction, allowing light to move across the surface in delicate variations and bringing a sense of movement to the lustrous black.

The interior is crafted by handmade designer Shingo Kuzuno using carefully selected crocodile leather. Its distinctive grain and sculptural texture create a contrasting richness against the finely worked exterior. When the case is opened, the graphic character of the scraped surface meets the natural expression of the crocodile leather, creating a sophisticated setting for ten timepieces.

A single line, a single trace of the hand, becomes part of a larger composition through repetition. It is this accumulation of marks, with their subtle irregularities, that gives the case a character impossible to reproduce through uniform manufacturing. Designed to house ten timepieces while standing as an art object in its own right, this WATCH CASE transforms material, craftsmanship, and the traces of the making process into an expression of the UNDULATION aesthetic.
